James Sinclair, 1913-1968. An Obituary and an appreciation by H.M. Burkill. Reprinted from the Gardens' Bulletin, Singapore, Vol XXIII, 30th December, 1968. James Sinclair, of the Bu in Hoy, was a protégé of Colonel Henry Halcro Johnston, The distinguished Orcadian botanist. After working at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh he was appointed curator of the Herbarium, Botanic Gardens, Singapore, a post which he held until his death.
