Wooden model on a flat base showing a gold riddle used in Australia. Also called Gold Mining Cradle. It has a seive at the top, which can be lifted off to view canvas belts underneath. The whole machine is agitated by a brass wheel attached to the machines support. It has a spring underneath which allows the machine to rock like a cradle when the brass wheel is turned. It is as used on the Australian Gold Fields for the washing of alluvial gold.
